Dr Wei Hu is a professor in the School of Life Sciences, Fudan University, and now the Dean of the School of Life Sciences, Inner Mongolia University. She is a recipient of the prestigious China National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars. Her current research focuses on the pathogens of zoonotic diseases, especially parasitic helminth diseases, including functional genomics, growth and development, genetics and evolution, as well as developing the new tools for parasitic diseases control. Her main interest is on Schistosoma japonicum’s invasion and development mechanism, population genetic variation and evolution features, rapid diagnostic tools and drug development. Her work has been published in well regarded international journals, including Nature, Nature Genetics, Nature Communications, Cell Reports and PLoS Pathogens. She serves as the editor of Parasitology, an important international parasitology journal.
