Dr. Han Xia is a professor at Wuhan Institute of Virology, and deputy director of Microbiology Branch of Sino-Africa Joint Research Center, CAS. She is a member of the National Biosafety Review Committee of the Microbiology and Biomedical Laboratory, and a member of the International Committee on Taxonomy of Viruses (ICTV) Peribunyaviridae Group, editor of BMC Infectious Disease, Virology Journal and Zoonoses. She is the first scholar to obtain an independent access certification for BSL-4 laboratory both from Galveston National Laboratory (USA) and the Wuhan National Biosafety Laboratory (China). Prof. Xia’s research interests include arbovirus discovery and early warning, biosafety and biosecurity; she obtained grants such as the National Key R&D Project, the Program of National Natural Science Foundation of China, and the Major Science and Technology Project of Hubei. She published more than 60 papers in journals such as Nature Communications as the first/corresponding author.
